Brian Hershberger – Church Structure

Posted by on 7:49 pm in Leadership | 0 comments

Brian Hershberger, former pastor and now executive director of Conservative Mennonite Conference, shares his insight into local church structure. He uses the analogy of a trellis and a vine to show how the purpose of church structure is to support the ministry of the church. The trellis needs to be strong enough to support the spiritual life and growth of the church, but trellis maintenance should not detract from ministry to people.

In answering that question, Reuben offers some timely wisdom and some historical perspective.

Posted by on 11:01 pm in Leadership | 0 comments

Merle Nisly, overseer at Grace Community Church in Red Lake, Ontario, discusses an important topic: church unity. Merle illustrates how unity is often not the natural by-product of community. However, it is a major theme of Jesus and the apostolic writers. In this episode you will consider ways church leaders have tried to achieve unity. Most importantly, you will be challenged to lead your community toward unity in Christ. Merle has also developed a three-hour workshop designed to help leadership teams consider the church’s needs for unity, and to gain some practical, basic skills required to lead a group of people toward unity. If your leadership group is interested in hosting this workshop, please contact Merle.
